Just Cheeky

Yesterday at my checkup they did an ultrasound to make sure that Austin was in the right position for delivery. He is such a wiggly worm that we couldn't tell for sure if his head was still down. The ultrasound confirmed that he is in the correct position. Yeah! The 3-D ultrasound picture makes me laugh. Austin looks so grumpy. The picture is a bit distorted because it is so tight in there. Here is the picture:

Ultrasound of Austin running out of room!

Just for fun here is a picture of Dylan the day he was born.
Oh how I love my cheeky boys :)

One comment that the ultrasound tech said was, "Wow, look at those long feet!"

Austin I can't wait to meet you!

Out & About

This week we have been squeezing in as many outings as we can manage. Each day that I'm not in labor we try to plan something fun. I figure we'll make the most of the time when I only have one kiddo to keep track of and can get out of the house with ease. Plus the weather this week has been beautiful with high temperatures in the mid 70's! This week we went to the Natural History Museum, the Zoo, a play place called Monkey Mania, took a tour of the Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory with our play group (a highlight for me), and made a few trips to the park. Here are some pictures:

At the park Saturday Dylan made a new friend named Kylie

Here Dylan's trying to hold Kylie's hand to help her up the slide

Taking a break from scooter fun to try to feed the neighbor cat some sticks :) Luckily the cat is nice and only ran away when Dylan made his signature Dinosaur noises at it.

New Car!

Yesterday we bought this Van! Scott and I have been wanting a van for a long time and had looked into it several times, but never committed or found exactly what we wanted until now. Our Jeep had 161,000 miles and was not the reliable family car we were looking for. We traded it in for a beautiful 2007 Honda Odyssey with only 22,000 miles. Scott already installed both car seats and our bags are packed. Now we truly are ready. Here are a couple more pictures:

Mom's Night Out

Last night I had the nice treat of getting a Manicure & Pedicure with a group of other Mom's. It was so fun and relaxing. Plus now I will have beautiful nails when Austin makes his grand entrance. One of the Mom's brought a table and we all brought yummy snacks and drinks to enjoy while we talked afterward. I made chocolate covered strawberries. My favorite! Here is a picture of me after I got home. I tried to match the pose to the picture Scott took when I was pregnant with Dylan at 36.5 weeks. I was thinking back and nearly on the same day of my pregnancy with Dylan I had a pedicure and got a haircut for a fun & relaxing spa day. It seems 36 weeks is perfect for pampering in preparation for my little ones. I definitely feel loved and appreciated for enduring the discomforts of pregnancy!

36.5 Weeks

Comparison
I've carried both my boys the same. All in front like a basketball. I feel bigger this time and much more pressure, but I think it is actually close to the same. I think that I've glamorized my pregnancy with Dylan in my mind over the past 3 years.

What a Beautiful Day!

I am so thankful for my Dylan! He is such a sweet and perceptive boy. Most days the first thing he says when we come downstairs is, "What a beautiful day." How can you not start your day with a smile after that? Even if we follow that moment by a crying fit because he is not allowed to watch a movie or eat graham crackers for breakfast we usually start off on a positive note. Dylan is becoming more of a preschooler now than a toddler. He tests Scott and I daily on his limits, and is becoming more and more independent. His favorite thing for some time now has been Dinosaurs. At home he is very good at imaginary play and makes up entertaining dialog for each dinosaur. Even in his preschool class his teachers are shocked and amazed by knowledge of dinosaurs. No surprise we will be having a Dinosaur themed birthday party next month when our little man turns 3! Since I hadn't posted in a long time I went through and picked my 10 favorite Dylan shots. I love seeing the different parts of his personality that each picture portrays.

Next to Dinosaurs books are Dylan's second favorite thing. Thanks to many of his older cousins hand me downs and family gifts we have a library of kids books that is quite impressive.

Thanks for tuning in for this Dylanmania post. Stay turned for updates on our growing family...

Room Change!

I'm back and I have lots to post so I'll be posting a few posts to catch up. I promised months ago to post a picture of my belly. I took this picture at the time, but it is far outdated now taken at 27 weeks. I am now 36 weeks and very large (sorry I didn't take a picture). Here is the picture and a comparison to my 27 week belly with Dylan.

Comparison to 1st pregnancy

I hadn't imported any pictures from my camera since October! Yikes! So when I connected the camera there were 287 new pictures to sort through. What have we been up to you may ask......? First we traveled to Phoenix after Thanksgiving and then to Portland after Christmas through the new year. When we got home I went into super nesting mode. We moved Dylan to his new Big boy room upstairs and then painted and set up the nursery downstairs for baby Austin. Oh we've decided on the name Austin Michael for our new little guy. I've also organized closets, bathroom drawers, you name it. I've also hosted a couple fun play dates for Dylan. I've been such a busy body that I started having some contraction like cramping a couple weeks ago. Since it is too early for his arrival I am now restricted to taking it easy and resting as much as possible. Here are pictures of the boys new rooms. Enjoy and check back soon! It may only be another week or two until we have a new birthday to celebrate. We'll see...

October Photo Fest!

October was a super fun and busy month for us. I had such a photo overload on the camera that I thought I'd share. Beware... there are a LOT of pictures. This was narrowed down from the 120 pictures we took this month! That is crazy for us when we can sometimes go a month taking maybe 1 or 2 pictures lately. Without further adieu... Our October Photo Fest:

Grandpa's Train

The first weekend in October NM train society had a special event for families and friends to view a real steam train. Dan has been working to restore an old train so that it will eventually carry passengers. For those of you train enthusiasts, like us, the train is black and looks just like Hero (From Thomas's Hero of the rails) Dylan loved it. His favorite part was actually not the amazing real train, but a giant electric toy train of Thomas. Dylan kept running back to get a closer look. See below:

Balloon Fiesta

Dylan wasn't too found of having to be out of his jammies at such an early hour so he was a little grumpy, but was still amazed by all the balloons and bright colors.
The balloon pilot for the Creamland Cow Balloon asked if Dylan wanted to come sit on the basket. He thought it was pretty neat until they made the fire shoot and then he quickly jumped into Scott's arms. The Cow balloon has always been one of my favorites. It is Huge! See below:

Nani & Pops Visit
The same weekend as the Balloon Fiesta Nani and Pops were here to visit. We all had a great time. It always flies by too fast. Here are Dylan and Pops checking out the Polar Bears at the Zoo.

McCall's Pumpkin Patch
The next weekend we took a family trip to the pumpkin patch. Here is Dylan holding the pumpkin he picked out. There were so many fun things to do. He skipped his nap this day and just took a little snooze on the car ride so we could squeeze in as much as possible.
Whee...Tunnel slides.
Every time Dylan came down he said, "again, again". Between Scott and I we took 5 or 6 turns down the slides.
The pumpkin patch is on a farm in Moriarty, NM so they had lots of animals to see. Dylan's favorite were the goats. There was a special area with very tame goats that you could feed. It is hard to see in the picture, but Dylan had a huge smile on his face the whole time.
Another highlight was the Dig Pit. A gigantic box filled with corn, buckets, shovels, and Dumptrucks! We went to the dig pit twice while we were there and both times Dylan cried when it was time to move on.

Our Haunted House
Last year after Halloween I bought a kit to make a cookie Haunted House on clearance for $3 and saved it to make this year. The frosting was a little hard so we supplemented with new frosting, but other than that it turned out great and we all had a ton of fun! Frosting was everywhere. As you can see in the picture Dylan's hands and shirt were a sticky mess. After our masterpiece was complete he went directly to the bathtub.
My guys with the finished product! We will definitely add this as an October tradition.

Harvest Festival
At Dylan's preschool they had a Harvest Festival the Wednesday before Halloween. They had all sorts of stations set up with fun activities for the kids. It must have taken days to get it all set up. It was so cute. Dylan loved the apple station. I volunteered to help at one of the stations and every time I looked to see where he was he was picking out a new apple. At the end they got to pick out a pumpkin to take home and snacked on some yummy pumpkin muffins.

Halloween
Halloween morning Dylan started off with the treat of a doughnut for breakfast. He ate all the chocolate and sprinkles off the top and then handed me the doughnut..."For you Mommy!" Such a SWEET boy.
After Dylan's nap we decorated pumpkins. Can you tell which one is Dylan's? Then we went trick-or-treating with our next door neighbors. Dylan was Batman. These are actually just some batman PJ's that we already had because Dylan was so anti-costume. At least it has a cape. I bought him a dragon and a monkey costume so he could pick and then he refused to go near either. So we ended up with this. He did love it when he figured out that people gave him candy and he had the trick-or-treat routine down in no time. Maybe next year he'll be more excited about the idea of a costume.

Thanks for sticking with me on this long recap of our Fun October!
